As an Advisor, Anna provides consulting services in the field of government relations, public affairs and communications. Her background in policy and decision-making processes in Bulgaria, combined with her experience in campaigning, advocacy and strategic communications, allow her to support Aretera’s clients in Bulgaria with in-depth political and regulatory analyses and strategic advices.


Responsibilities at Aretera

  • Monitoring & analysis of draft legislation and policy initiatives in Bulgaria;
  • Identifying & assessing regulatory and political risks and their impact on clients in Bulgaria;
  • Drafting analytical papers, overviews and reports for clients;
  • Corporate communications and media relations.

Professional experience

Throughout her career, Anna has worked in various positions in both the public and private sectors. As a Parliamentary Secretary to Bulgaria’s Council of Ministers, she was responsible for communications between ministries and the parliament on different pieces of legislation and policy initiatives. For more than seven years, Anna also worked in the non-profit sector. As a Legal Advisor and Program Director at the Bulgarian Center for Not-for-Profit Law, she was advocating for establishing the principles of good and open government, public engagement in the decision-making process and public consultations at every stage of policy and legislative acts.

Anna also has experience in providing legal and organizational development assistance for hundreds of Bulgarian and international foundations and associations. She has specific knowledge of AML/CFT regulations, personal data protection, social and sustainable entrepreneurship, regulatory impact assessment and public consultations. All these have allowed her to develop a comprehensive understanding of the political and legislative processes in Bulgaria, as well as of the instruments for participation and partnership between the state and the private sector.


Background

Anna is a PhD candidate in Constitutional Law and Sociology of Law at the Institute for the State and the Law to Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She holds an MA degree in Law from University for National and World Economy in Sofia.


Languages

Anna is fluent in Bulgarian and English, conversational in German, and has a solid understanding of Russian.
