Aretera is delighted to announce that Zsuzsanna Mátrai, an internationally reputable former diplomat and a highly experienced international public affairs executive, has joined our growing Central and Eastern European practice as Principal Advisor.
Based in Budapest, Zsuzsanna is an EU-focused public affairs professional with over 25 years of experience in economic, international, and corporate relations, with extensive professional emphasis on digitalization, the ethical dimensions of AI, corporate social responsibility, as well as public administration, European affairs and EU law.
During her 20-year tenure as a former senior diplomat at Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Zsuzsanna played an instrumental role in several key Hungarian diplomacy initiatives, including support for Hungary’s European integration process and spearheading the establishment of the Hungarian EU coordination system, also serving as spokesperson. Transitioning to Microsoft in 2017, Zsuzsanna assumed various roles within the Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs team. Beginning with oversight of corporate and government affairs in Central Europe, she later became Regional Director for the wider CEE region, managing the function across 33 countries ranging from Southeastern Europe through Central Europe, Ukraine, and the CIS countries. In her role, besides leading the corporate affairs team in CEE, Zsuzsanna advocated for Microsoft's core values and philanthropic activities while contributing to strategic initiatives to shape public policy outcomes on ICT industry issues.
“We are delighted to welcome Zsuzsanna as our Principal Advisor for Hungary and CEE,” said Chris Dobson, Managing Partner. “She is an exceptional public policy figure who brings a wealth of public policy, corporate and diplomatic experience. Combined with her strong regional credentials and demonstrated performance in EU affairs, we are confident that she will offer valuable regional insights to our clients across CEE at a crucial time as Hungary gears up for its Presidency in the Council of the EU.”
