Roman Sukhyy
Country Director, Ukraine & Moldova
Roman is an experienced public affairs practitioner, responsible for Aretera's activity in Ukraine and Moldova. As Country Director, he provides strategic advice to clients across various sectors, coordinates outreach to Ukrainian and Moldovan public authorities, and oversees policy and regulatory analysis.
Prior to joining Aretera, Roman worked as the Deputy Division Head of the Legal Department of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). In this role, he was responsible for the legal aspects of currency regulation and currency control, investment and foreign trade, cashless payments and the payment systems' functioning. Roman was also actively involved in the development of Ukraine's financial and banking legislation.
Roman graduated from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv in 2004 with a Master's (LLM) in International Law. In 2013, he obtained a PhD in Law. His dissertation focused on the NBU's s regulatory role in foreign exchange markets.
